Commercial Carpet Cleaning Methods

There are a variety of commercial carpet cleaning methods available to homeowners and business owners, and each one has its advantages when used to clean certain types of carpet. Some of the most popular commercial carpet cleaning techniques are dry cleaning, spin bonnet cleaning, encapsulation and hot water extraction. Dry Cleaning When a carpet is dry cleaned, a dry compound in powder form is spread evenly over the carpet’s surface and scrubbed into it deeply, usually with a mechanical brush. Soil and other particles of debris are attracted to the bits of compound and then vacuumed away, leaving the carpet clean. It is very important to ensure that the area is vacuumed thoroughly and in a timely manner, as remaining compound in carpet fibers can result in white, chalky residue on the carpet and on anything with which it comes into contact. Spin Bonnet Cleaning Spin bonnet cleaning involves the use of a motorized device equipped with a large, rapidly spinning round brush. A cleaning solution is applied to the carpet and the spinning brush is supposed to extract any dirt, grease or grime from the fibers of the carpet. The spin bonnet method, however, does not actually include any form of extraction, so residue and debris are frequently found even after a thorough cleaning process. Additional extraction methods, such as vacuuming, usually serve to eliminate these problems but add an extra step and additional time to the treatment. Encapsulation A cleansing solution is applied to the carpet and allowed to crystallize, hardening around debris particles and preventing further accumulation of soil. This method also requires the thorough use of a vacuum to completely eliminate residue and dirt. Hot Water Extraction Unlike other methods used by commercial carpet cleaning services, hot water extraction is consistently effective at removing stains and persistent odors in a manner that does not leave any bothersome residue behind. Consumers typically know hot water extraction as steam cleaning. The power of water at high temperatures and high pressure forces dirt, grease and other debris from deep within the carpet’s fibers for the most thorough and longest-lasting clean available. – See more at:
